Comparative of Inequality We can form the comparatives using the formula: More / Less + Adjective / Adverb / Noun + that. Examples: Marta is smarter than Sofia. (adjective) She writes slower than the rest of her classmates. (adverb) Marta and Natalia have more friends than Sofia. (noun) Pablo is less cheerful than Pedro. (adjective) Pedro arrived less late than Franco. (adverb) Franco and Juan have fewer friends than Diego. (noun) When the comparison is followed by a number, + More / Less DE is used. but when the sentence is negative, use More / Less + than. Examples: I have more than five thousand pesos in my pocket. I have no more than five thousand pesos in my pocket. There are less than ten thousand people protesting.
